  • Related Services For School-Aged Children With Disabilities - The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) mandates that "all children with disabilities have available to them...a free appropriate public education which emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet their unique needs..." (Section 601[c]). In accordance with the IDEA and other federal laws, more than 4.5 million children with disabilities across the nation received special education and/or related services in the 1989-90 school year.
