The Journal of the American Academy of Special Education Professionals (JAASEP) is a peer reviewed online journal committed to advancing the professional development of special education professionals through research, policy, and practice.  JAASEP  is a multi-faceted electronic journal that seeks new contributions based on original work of practitioners and researchers with specific focus on or implications for the field of special education.

The content of JAASEP  is likely to be of interest to college or university faculty, school administrators, educational evaluators, psychologists, special education teachers, psychiatrists, medical doctors, directors of special education services, directors of early intervention agencies, infant-toddler service coordinators, transition service coordinators, speech and language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, educational lawyers, and all other practitioners and professionals in the field of special education.

Manuscripts submitted to JAASEP consist of research based submissions that address current practice issues in the field of special education. Feature manuscripts are major articles which make a new contribution to the field of special education. Manuscripts in a variety of categories are solicited.

JAASEP is a peer reviewed publication.  When an article is submitted to JAASEP, it is immediately peer reviewed by at least two experts in the field of study.  If the peer reviewers unanimously agree that the article is worthy of acceptance, the article is considered for JAASEP.  If at least one peer reviewer does not recommend the article for publication, it is submitted to a different peer reviewer for a recommendation.  If two or more peer reviewers agree that the article is not worthy of publication in JAASEP, the submission is not accepted for publication in JAASEP.

JAASEP welcomes submissions at any time, as we have an open submissions policy. We seek papers from the field on a wide variety of issues confronting special education professionals and the exceptional individuals with whom they work.
